Miracle League of Southwestern PA – Richard “Dick” Hadley Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Details
The Miracle League of SWPA is happy to offer annually a $1000 scholarship to a deserving, local high school senior planning to attend a college or trade school after high school. The scholarship specifically recognizes a student who has been a dedicated volunteer with the Miracle League and/or has participated in various fundraising efforts or activities to support the League or others.
To apply for this scholarship, students must complete an application which includes a one-page typed essay about:

Their time volunteering with the Miracle League and how this experience has been rewarding to them

Any fundraising efforts or activities (including those that may have supported the Miracle League), the fundraising results, and the motivations for giving back to the Miracle League or other charities

How their involvement in the Miracle League and/or other charities changed their perspectives in life and/or towards special needs children and adults
An individual is only permitted to earn this scholarship one time.
Application Process
Applications are available here or through the Seneca Valley High School guidance office. The deadline to apply each year is March 6. Completed applications should be submitted to the Miracle League to Terry Shulsky at terry.shulsky@bipc.com.

About Richard “Dick” Hadley

Hadley was a beloved member of the Miracle League of SWPA Family. As a founding member of the Miracle League in Cranberry Township and a member of the Miracle League Board, the Miracle League will forever be grateful to his overwhelming contributions to the league, players, and organization. His leadership and selfless dedication to our children was instrumental in the league being created over 14 years ago.
Prior to his death in 2022, Dick served as the chair of the Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors, chair of the Cranberry General Authority, voting member of the Southwestern PA Planning Commission. In the past, Dick also served as president of the PA State Association of Supervisors, the Local Government Academy, chair of the North Hills Tax Collection Committee, and board member of Municipal Risk Management. In 2015, Dick retired as the executive director of the Allegheny League of Municipalities.
