Our First Rule:
No Kid Should be an Exception.

One of the inspirations for the Miracle League of Southwestern PA (MLSWPA) came from when a parent approached a Little League coach about seeking an
exception for his disabled child to be allowed to hit off of a batting tee in order to play in an organized little league game. Although this would have allowed the child to participate in the game, it also seemed a bit unfair. After all, why should a child with special needs be an exception? Instead, this child became one of the inspirations to create a special place where
physically and mentally disabled children could play in their own league, on their own teams, with their own equipment, and most importantly, on their own field.
The field has been built and Opening Day was on May 16, 2009.
Today, the MLSWPA is focused on providing Miracle League Baseball for all disabled children
and adults in Southwestern Pennsylvania. We cannot change or cure the medical issues life has dealt disabled children. What we can do is provide them with an opportunity to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing our National pastime—baseball at the new Pirates Charities Miracle League Field in Cranberry Township.
